Boyd Students Had a Great Day!!!

We had a great day today, and, again, we are exhausted! We visited several sites, and we left a lasting impression at each one. We began the day at Arlington Cemetery, where our students were amazed at how many soldiers gave their lives to protect our rights. From Arlington, we traveled to eat lunch, and then to the National Zoo. On the way, our tough luck struck again! TRAFFIC JAM!!! After taking one hour to go one mile, we reached the zoo, and saw some amazing animals and displays.

After leaving the zoo, we picked up our jump-on tour guide, who whisked us around Washington, showing us beautiful sights and sounds. We visited the White House, and we saw the Iwo Jima/Marine Memorial. We then went to Union Station to eat supper. After dinner, we traveled to the Korean War Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the Viet Nam Memorial, and the World War II Memorial. DC is so beautiful at night.

As usual, all our students were the best behaved wherever we visited. It has been a rewarding trip for us all, and many new friendships have been forged.

Many thanks to Ms. Rose, Ms. Squires, Ms. Ponder, Ms. Brown, Ms. Allison, Ms. Davis, Ms. Whelchel, Ms. Barry, Ms. Gains, Ms. Nease, Ms. Battisti, Mr. Suchil, Mr. Clary, Mr. Fowler, Mr. McAninch, our bus drivers, and our tour guide for a great trip.

Congratulations to our students on such a good job! Thank you parents as well. Everyone is safe, everyone is well, and everyone is happy!

We do have one more stop to make tomorrow morning. We are going to visit Mount Vernon, the home of George Washington. It is a beautiful farm and the kids always love it. Then, it's Spartanburg or bust!

Our final post will come from the road on the way home. Thanks again, and good night!

  1. Nathaniel good morning,
I enjoyed reading about your second day adventures at DC and seeing the group picture. I hope you are taking good notes so that you can be our tour guide when we go back to DC together. See you tonight, love you, Mom.

We enjoyed seeing the picture of the group and we are looking forward to you returning home and telling us all about your trip. We are so thrilled (but already knew) that Boyd students would be the best behaved as we have the best children and staff in the state!!

  9. Nijel,

You may not get this in time. If you do, it sounds like you have LOTS to tell. WOW.....I can't wait to see you and Mimi to hear about it. Thanks a million to Mr. Duvall and all of the 5th grade teachers for making this trip happen. Mr. Grant, Mrs Rose, and other administrators get a big "SHOUT OUT" for approving it to happen. Mrs. Nease, I appreciate you for keeping an "eye" on Mrs. Gaines. Rachael and Soline, I hope you enjoyed your new roommate you met over the trip and that you had fun while learning. South Carolina, "Here they come."

    Love ya,

    Mom
